You cannot view DD214’s online!

Currently, (as of April 8th 2007) there was only one company advertising on the big search engines that actually obtains DD214’s.  

WWW.LYONRESEARCH.COM This company apparently has a lot of Government contracts which enables it to keep researchers at the Government facilities where DD214’s are stored.  They can get records in 1 week and claim they can obtain records in as little as one day. At this time this is the only company I recommend.

The following companies do not go get your DD214 or other military records in person.

I do not recommend any of these as they don’t actually go get your records. Some charge you to fax the order form to the government.
In hopes of cutting down on the emails regarding DD214’s I have a CHART that quickly shows what the companies on this page do. 

Why would you use any of these companies to fax your request in. If you are not in a hurry  the  Here is how you order for free.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE COMPANIES

DD214.org.  This company never responded to our emails and since they dont have a phone number or a mailing address, we wouldn’t touch them.  Their cleverly worded site basically says we are sending your request to the Government and they will get the record for you. They charge $19.95.  THEY DONT GET YOUR DD214 THEY ARE SELLING YOU A FORM. We have been told that you fill out a form online and then they mail it to you for you to send to the Records Center,  I have also talked to someone who said all they do now is send you a link with directions on where to send your request.  You paid 19.95 for the sf 180 that is free on www.nprc.gov

DD214.com This site is just a VA Loan site.  They are trying to get  you to register so they can try to sell you a loan.  They don’t actually get dd 214’s.

Right_to_know.net Although this company charges as much as Lyon Research, they don’t actually get your DD 214 or other military records, they just fax or mail your request to the NPRC or other Agency.  If you want to spend that much money to have them fax or mail your request in, you might as well pay somebody to go get it. At least they do not try to decieve people.

orderdd214.com This company appears to be similar to dd214.org. There site is not misleading.  They are mailing or faxing your request.  They do not go get your dd 214 of other military records.

I understand that there are other companies that claim to go get your record in person I don’t have any experience with them.
